The General Assembly<\/b> of the MENA Migrant Health Project took place in Tunis and Sousse, Tunisia<\/b>, on 19-21 September 2023<\/b>. After the welcoming session, hosted by the Spanish Ambassador in Tunisia, a significant part of the meeting was dedicated to presenting the progress of the project<\/b>. To this end, the research working group presented the results of the systematic review<\/b>, the findings of the qualitative study<\/b> carried out in Morocco and Tunisia and the methodological plan for the evaluation and validation of the tool<\/b> currently under development.<\/p>\n
The team from Morocco shared significant progress in the establishment of the Migrant Health Secretariat in Morocco (Scientific Committee on Migrant Health)<\/b>, which is at an advanced stage. This accomplishment not only signified progress but also served as a source of inspiration for Tunisia,Egypt and Sudan partners, which are also entitled to establish a Migrant Health Secretariat in their countries.<\/p>\n
In addition to the technical aspects of the project, the meeting focused on improving management and coordination, particularly with regard to future meetings and activities. In fact, Badr University<\/b><\/a> was officially announced as a new partner in Egypt<\/b> and it was agreed that the next meeting will be held in Cairo in September 2024.<\/p>\n The PhD programme is an integral part of the MENA Migrant Health project. During the meeting, the ‘PhD Guidebook’ <\/b>was presented, serving as an essential resource to further define the PhD programme. The meeting also saw progress in the formation of joint supervision agreements<\/b>, strengthening collaborations among partner universities and the University of Barcelona<\/a>.<\/p>\n The meeting culminated in the “International PhD Symposium\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the Medicine Faculty of the University of Sousse<\/b> where students presented their thesis proposals, preliminary findings, and progress before an international evaluation committee. This symposium underscored the importance of the academic component within the project and reaffirmed the commitment to nurturing the next generation of researchers specializing in migrant health.<\/p>\n L’<\/span>assembl\u00c3\u00a9e g\u00c3\u00a9n\u00c3\u00a9rale <\/b>du projet MENA Migrant Health s’est tenue \u00c3\u00a0<\/span> Tunis et \u00c3\u00a0 Sousse<\/b>, en <\/span>Tunisie<\/b>, du <\/span>19 au 21 septembre 2023<\/b>. Apr\u00c3\u00a8s la session de bienvenue, organis\u00c3\u00a9e par l’Ambassadeur d’Espagne en Tunisie, une partie importante de la r\u00c3\u00a9union a \u00c3\u00a9t\u00c3\u00a9 consacr\u00c3\u00a9e \u00c3\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>\u00c2\u00a0pr\u00c3\u00a9senter l’avancement du projet<\/b>. A cet effet, le groupe de travail du projet a pr\u00c3\u00a9sent\u00c3\u00a9 les<\/span> r\u00c3\u00a9sultats de la revue syst\u00c3\u00a9matique<\/b>, les <\/span>r\u00c3\u00a9sultats de l’\u00c3\u00a9tude qualitative<\/b> men\u00c3\u00a9e au Maroc et en Tunisie et le<\/span> plan m\u00c3\u00a9thodologique pour l’\u00c3\u00a9valuation et la validation de l’outil <\/b>en cours de d\u00c3\u00a9veloppement.<\/span><\/p>\n L’\u00c3\u00a9quipe du Maroc a fait part des progr\u00c3\u00a8s significatifs r\u00c3\u00a9alis\u00c3\u00a9s dans la mise en place du <\/span>Secr\u00c3\u00a9tariat de la sant\u00c3\u00a9 des migrants au Maroc <\/b>(Comit\u00c3\u00a9 scientifique de la sant\u00c3\u00a9 des migrants), qui se trouve \u00c3\u00a0 un stade avanc\u00c3\u00a9. Cette t\u00c3\u00a2che n\u00e2\u20ac\u2122a pas seulement permis de progresser, mais a \u00c3\u00a9galement servi de source d’inspiration pour les partenaires tunisiens, \u00c3\u00a9gyptiens et soudanais, qui ont \u00c3\u00a9galement l\u00e2\u20ac\u2122opportunit\u00c3\u00a9 d’\u00c3\u00a9tablir un secr\u00c3\u00a9tariat de la sant\u00c3\u00a9 des migrants dans leur pays.<\/span><\/p>\n Outre les aspects techniques du projet, la r\u00c3\u00a9union s’est concentr\u00c3\u00a9e sur l’am\u00c3\u00a9lioration de la gestion et de la coordination, notamment en ce qui concerne les r\u00c3\u00a9unions et activit\u00c3\u00a9s futures. En effet, l<\/span>‘Universit\u00c3\u00a9 Badr<\/span><\/a> a \u00c3\u00a9t\u00c3\u00a9 <\/span>officiellement annonc\u00c3\u00a9e comme nouveau partenaire en \u00c3\u2030gypte<\/b> et il a \u00c3\u00a9t\u00c3\u00a9 convenu que la prochaine r\u00c3\u00a9union se tiendrait au Caire en septembre 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n Renforcer la dimension acad\u00c3\u00a9mique du projet<\/b><\/p>\n Le programme de doctorat fait partie int\u00c3\u00a9grante du projet MENA Migrant Health. Au cours de la r\u00c3\u00a9union, le <\/span>“Guide du doctorat”<\/b> a \u00c3\u00a9t\u00c3\u00a9 pr\u00c3\u00a9sent\u00c3\u00a9, servant de ressource essentielle pour d\u00c3\u00a9finir plus pr\u00c3\u00a9cis\u00c3\u00a9ment le programme de doctorat. La r\u00c3\u00a9union a \u00c3\u00a9galement permis de progresser dans la <\/span>formation d’accords de supervision conjointe<\/b>, renfor\u00c3\u00a7ant ainsi les collaborations entre les universit\u00c3\u00a9s partenaires et l’<\/span>Universit\u00c3\u00a9 de Barcelone<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n La r\u00c3\u00a9union s’est achev\u00c3\u00a9e par un <\/span>“Symposium international de doctorants” \u00c3\u00a0 la Facult\u00c3\u00a9 de m\u00c3\u00a9decine de l’Universit\u00c3\u00a9 de Sousse<\/b>, o\u00c3\u00b9 les \u00c3\u00a9tudiants ont pr\u00c3\u00a9sent\u00c3\u00a9 leurs propositions de th\u00c3\u00a8se, leurs r\u00c3\u00a9sultats pr\u00c3\u00a9liminaires et leurs progr\u00c3\u00a8s devant un comit\u00c3\u00a9 d’\u00c3\u00a9valuation international.
